About
Our Works
by Teresa Turrou-Bressert, "la dueña"
I
am one of the fortunate "gringas" who lives in the center of the folk art scene of Mexico. It
is said that there are over 100,000 artesanos in the state of Michoacan which first caught my eye as a place to live when I saw one of
the cocucha BIG POT gigantes in a store front in Puerta Vallarta. When I saw it, immediately
I did a 180 and went into the shop to inquire as to where it was made.
"Michoacan", I was told. So, the cocucha BIG pots put Michoacan on the
map for me. |
| Going
into the villages and meeting the people who express life through
their art is a peak experience for me. Their "realness"
and graciousness vibrates with the joy vibration within me. As their
art feeds their soul, sharing their art feeds my soul. |
| I started a website gallery
The Art of
Mexico in 2004 to share "real" folk art at the retail
level. I also work with designers and collectors wanting "real" Mexican Folkart. Living in in the center of the folk art scene, I am able to constantly
monitor the art scene through the contacts I have made
through the years. |
| But first and foremost
is my passion for cocuchas. I have lots of cocucha BIG Pots. I walk by them,
or look at them and I feel the power of the earth grounding me, or
maybe it is cell memories of ancient times. Quien sabe?... But, it
feels good! The truly artful, majestic, museum quality cocuchas available
through Cocuchas.com are the most "mystical" I have found
yet. Cocuchas are truly a bridge spanning modern time to an ancient time and place in history, the world of our ancestors. |
